Quested Peace celebrating International Day of Peace with Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and deafblind children   This year Quested Peace CC decided to celebrate International Day of Peace with purest human beings on earth; the deaf/ deafblind children. We conducted a full entertainment program for 165 deaf, hard-of-hearing, and deafblind children at The Holy Land Institute for the Deaf- Al Salt. The program included:   1. Cooking sweet cakes, 3 young ladies from our group along with 13 deaf girls led by Nour Nahleh, the URI Coordinator for Women Initiative in MENA, cooked 3 huge Cake for celebrating the IDP. 2. Sport for peace contests: We divided the children into 4 equal teams who competed on group challenge games. 3. Group games for all. 4. We prayed for peace and thanked Allah al mighty for food, health and all his gifts, then had the dinner together. 5. We celebrated together and ate the special IDP Cakes.   Being among such a big crowd of deaf/ deafblind children was another out of world experience for Quested Peace. We were up to the challenge; we broke the ice with the deaf so quickly, and we conducted the games so smoothly. We discovered that deaf community loves group activities, after each activity they wave their hands to indicate their pleasure. They were not a mute people, they were full of energy and feelings, and they can read our eyes and feel our love and the world love. They were so cooperative and polite; they kept thanking us in their sign language after each activity. Acknowledging them was highly appreciated by them. I really cannot describe how peaceful and comfortable they were while we were holding their hands and playing together. They tough us how to do peace sign in their language.   The Holy Land Institute for the Deaf is primarily a place for the rehabilitation, education and training of Deaf, hard-of-hearing and deafblind children. It operates through a School, a Vocational Training center, H.E.A.R. (Hearing Aids, Ear molds, Audiology and Resources), Sign Language, Deafblind departments. The institute aims to enable hard-of-hearing, Deaf and deafblind people to participate meaningfully in family and community and to make their unique and valuable contributions to an inclusive society.   The project was co-funded by MENA IDP Award. Together we bring out the best in each other for a better future.   May peace prevail on MENA Region. May peace prevail on Earth. In love and peace.
