On October 1, 2024, twelve women reunited in Amman for an evaluation day facilitated by URI MENA.The purpose of this gathering was to reflect on the impact of the training they received earlier in the year, share insights from their workshops, and explore ways to improve future interventions. The event allowed the women to strengthen their network, celebrate their successes, and brainstorm ideas for future workshops on self-care and emotional resilience.

These women first came together in February 2024 for a training course on self-care, resilience, and facilitation skills, with the goal of becoming trainers in their own communities. Throughout the year, they held workshops across Jordan, creating spaces of trust and connection. URI monitored these efforts, witnessing the great need for safe spaces for women in the country.

The evaluation day began with a review of photos and memories from the women’s workshops, followed by group discussions. The women reflected on the challenges and successes they encountered while planning and facilitating their sessions, and they shared inspiring stories from participants. Among these stories was one of a woman from southern Jordan who traveled to Amman, overcoming family resistance to attend the February training. Another woman hosted workshops in the desert of Wadi Rum, where demand was so high that not everyone could participate.

Some participants also shared deeply personal reflections. One woman, for example, described how the training made her rethink her parenting style and its impact on her daughter. Another finally felt able to speak about her experience as one of several wives, left to care for her husband’s other families after his passing.

The women’s circles formed during this training became powerful safe spaces where untold stories could be shared and acknowledged. The event underscored the urgent need for more of these spaces, as well as psychological support and practical tools for emotional resilience in Jordan.
